The short answer: send us the shifts your current agency is not covering. Within 24 hours you will know what we can confirm. If we cannot cover a shift or a role, we tell you in that same answer, not on the morning of the shift.

Oriented to your home. For long-term care placements, workers complete the orientation your home requires before their first shift.

Familiar faces. On repeat shifts we send the same workers back wherever we can.
Replacements. If a worker cannot make a shift, we work to replace them and keep you informed.

Can we start small?

Yes. You can start with part of your agency hours, such as weekend shifts or one role, keep your current arrangements for the rest, and judge us on how those shifts go.

What should we send?

The roles you need, the shifts and dates, the home location, and any language requirements for your residents. If you are moving recurring shifts, send the schedule so we can plan for consistent workers.

How does Athena screen workers for long-term care and retirement homes?

Every worker has a current vulnerable sector check, verified credentials for their role (including PSW certification and registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario for RPNs and RNs), N95 fit testing and IPAC training, and is interviewed and reference checked before their first placement. For long-term care, workers complete the orientation your home requires before their first shift.

How quickly will we hear back?

Within 24 hours of receiving your coverage request with roles, shifts and location. If a shift is urgent today, call us directly.

Do we have to move all our agency shifts to Athena?

No. You can start with some shifts, a single unit or one role, and keep your current arrangements for the rest. You decide how much to move.

Can we have the same workers on repeat shifts?

We send the same workers back wherever we can. Residents do better with familiar faces, and workers who know your home need less orientation each time.

Does Athena manage care in our home?

No. Athena supplies the workers. Your home directs their work and resident care, in line with your policies.
